Director Letter
Five years ago, when Parkland CARES opened its doors for the first time, never would we have imagined we would be where we are today. Having served just 12 families that first day, it’s hard to believe that we have now served well over 600+ unique families that have sought our services. In addition to the families we serve, we are also profoundly proud of the over 400 Parkland students we serve each month with our Snack Pack program.
None of this would be possible without the dedication of our volunteers. Each month they give tirelessly of their time, talent, and treasure. We simply couldn’t do what we do without them.
Outside of being a mom and a wife, leading Parkland CARES has been the greatest honor of my life. To see the joy and relief that we bring to our families and students is a testament to a community who has looked hunger in the face and has not backed down. We won’t solve the issue of hunger, but you can be guaranteed, we will continue to diligently fight it as long as it exists in our community.
The future is bright for Parkland CARES and as we make plans to better serve our community, we wait in anticipation of what is next.
Gratefully yours,
Katrina Sundstrom
